The Act is now available on StarzPlay via Amazon Prime Video.The story of Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard initially seems to be a story of loving relationship between mother and daughter, who walk together on a path of resilience overcoming many obstacles. ‘Literally, the most risqué topics we even touched on were boys … and at the time I believed she was no older than the age of 15, so we can all assume that remained pretty tame.’Īleah added that she felt the behaviour of the character portrayed on screen damaged her respectable image by people who ‘prefer drama over respect’. Alcohol and smoking were things we never discussed.

The closest to it is a girl named Aleah Woodmansee, who eventually tipped off the police about the secret Facebook account Gypsy had to talk to her about boys and her struggles with her mother.īut she was far from happy with the interpretation of her character on screen in The Act, and later told InTouch that there were scenes involving Lacey and Gypsy that were completely made up. While there was certainly someone like that in her life, the character of Lacey doesn’t actually exist.
